Have you jumped on the travel agent podcast bandwagon yet? In a lot of ways, I think travel agents are spoiled for business resources—from in-depth blog posts and trade journals to certification courses and coaching. (In fact, there are so many resources out there, you can quickly get overwhelmed if you try to consume it all!).
But one thing I haven’t seen much of are bite-sized tips and tricks for travel pros … especially from other agents who have been in the trenches.
That’s why I’m SO excited about the bevy of podcasts for travel agents that have been launching lately!
It’s so easy to press play on a podcast and soak up some knowledge while you’re taking a walk, getting ready in the morning, cooking dinner, or preparing client gifts. Podcasts are long enough to give you some solid biz ideas, but short enough to not overwhelm you.
In case you’ve missed ’em, here are 3 podcasts specifically for travel agents you’ll want to queue up asap:
The Top Travel Agent Podcasts for 2019
1. Travel Pro Theory:
Hosted by Heather Christopher and Kate Thomas, a travel agent and tour operator with a combined 20 years of industry experience, this podcast covers topics that I feel a lot of travel pros shy away from—like fees, systems, and how to keep your clients in check when they start to make your job a wee bit harder than it needs to be! I think it’s an especially great podcast for mid-career agents ready to uplevel their businesses.
- Favorite episode: Systems: Kate and Heather share the main systems they use to make running their businesses easier. [Part 2 on this topic should be coming out soon]
2. Travel Geniuses:
Hosted by Christy Camren, this podcast covers marketing and business topics for travel pros—from websites and blogging to social media—to help you design and grow a business you love.
- Favorite episode: Social media tips for travel agents with Brianna Glenn. You may have oohhed and ahhhed over Brianna’s envy-inducing Instagram feed—get insider tips from the Milk and Honey Travel founder herself in this episode.
- Psst … Christy has also been gracious enough to invite me on the podcast a couple of times; check out episode 16 on how to work with a copywriter and episode 20 where we chat about our biggest travel agent website pet peeves!
3. Travel Agent Chatter:
This one’s hosted by Steph Lee of Host Agency Reviews, and what I love about this podcast is that Steph features a lot of different travel agents, who share their stories and best tips. It’s a great reminder that there’s more than one way to run a successful travel business!
- Favorite episode: Episode 8 features Madeline Jhawar of Italy Beyond the Obvious, who earns 80% of her income from fees alone—a great listen if you’re waffling over whether to charge a fee (or stuck on how much to charge!).
Honorable mention:
This one’s not a podcast per se, but the ladies behind the Global Institute for Travel Entrepreneurs host a weekly travel talk show on Facebook Live called Travel Talk Live. It’s a good mix of mindset, marketing, and operations advice! Check out their collection of videosand watch live every Tuesday.
